1. Introduction
Welcome to Noor: Quran, Hadith & Duas ("we", "our", or "app"). We are committed to protecting your personal privacy and safeguarding your spiritual habits. This Privacy Policy explains what data our mobile application processes, how device permissions are utilized, and how your information is protected.
2. Information Collection and Storage Architecture
Noor operates on an offline-first architecture designed with privacy-by-design principles:
A. On-Device Storage (Default / Offline)
Most features in Noor work completely offline without transmitting data to remote servers. The following are saved strictly in your device's private sandbox storage:
Quran & Bookmarks: Your last read Surah, Ayah number, Mushaf page bookmarks, and saved Hadith/Dua bookmarks.
Digital Tasbih & Goals: Counter progress, custom Dhikr phrases, and user-defined spiritual goals.
Prayer Tracking History: Daily Salah checkmarks (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, Witr, Tahajjud) and streak calculations.
Spiritual Journal (Muhasabah): Personal reflections and daily mood tags are encrypted on-device using AES-256 via hardware-backed Android KeyStore storage.
B. Cloud Synchronization via Firebase (Optional Google Sign-In)
Account creation is 100% optional. If you choose to sign in with your Google Account, Noor securely synchronizes your spiritual progress using Google Firebase Cloud Firestore so you never lose your data when switching phones or reinstalling the app:
Purpose: Account identification & authentication across devices.
Prayer History
Data Synced: Daily prayer completion checkmarks per date
Purpose: Restores historical prayer streaks and weekly consistency %.
Bookmarks & Progress
Data Synced: Saved Surahs, Ayahs, Duas, Hadiths, and 30 Juz Khatam progress
Purpose: Restores your saved items and Quran reading position.
Dhikr & Goals
Data Synced: Custom Tasbih phrases, lifetime totals, and personal goals
Purpose: Preserves your spiritual habits and counters.
Journal & Settings
Data Synced: Encrypted reflections, theme and Arabic script preference
Purpose: Restores your personal journal and visual settings.
Security Rule: Cloud data is strictly restricted to your authenticated Google account. Our Firestore security rules strictly prevent any other user from accessing or modifying your data.
3. Device Permissions & Why They Are Needed
Noor requests only the minimal permissions required to deliver essential Islamic utilities:
Location (Approximate & Precise GPS): Used solely to calculate astronomical solar prayer times (Salah) and compute the precise Qibla direction towards the Kaaba in Makkah. Your GPS coordinates are processed on-device and are NEVER uploaded to Firebase, tracked in the background, or shared with third parties. Users may also choose their city manually without granting location permission.
Notifications & Exact Alarms: Used exclusively to deliver timely prayer alerts, peaceful Adhan notifications, and pre-Fajr reminders. The Adhan audio is bundled directly inside the app package and triggers offline.
Audio & Media: Used to play Holy Quran recitations and supplication audio seamlessly.
4. Third-Party Services & Advertisements
100% Ad-Free: Noor does not display ads and does not integrate commercial advertising networks (no AdMob, Facebook Audience Network, or tracking SDKs).
Google Firebase: Used for secure user authentication (Google Sign-In) and optional cloud data backup (Cloud Firestore).
Content APIs: When online, the app connects via encrypted HTTPS to trusted public Islamic repositories (such as EveryAyah for Quran recitations and AlAdhan for calendar algorithms).
5. Data Security
We implement comprehensive industry-standard security safeguards:
Encryption in Transit: All data exchanged with Firebase and content servers is encrypted using HTTPS / TLS 1.3.
Encryption at Rest: Sensitive local data is encrypted with AES-256 via flutter_secure_storage backed by Android KeyStore.
Access Control: Granular Firebase Firestore Security Rules guarantee that only your authenticated Google account can read or write your personal documents.
Code Hardening: Production releases are compiled with Android R8 code shrinking and ProGuard obfuscation to prevent reverse engineering and unauthorized tampering.
6. Data Retention & Account / Data Deletion
You have full ownership and control over your data:
Local Data: You can wipe all local records, cached recitations, and preferences at any time by going to Settings → Storage → Data & Backup → Clear All Data, or by clearing app storage in Android settings.
Cloud Data & Account Deletion (Instant In-App): If you signed in with Google and wish to permanently delete your cloud profile and synchronized data (prayers, bookmarks, and journal entries), you can do so directly from within the app with one tap under Settings → Storage → Data & Backup → Delete Account & Cloud Data. Your cloud documents and Firebase account are immediately and irreversibly purged.
Alternative Method (If app is already uninstalled): In compliance with Google Play's Account Deletion Policy, if you have already uninstalled the application from your phone and cannot access the in-app deletion button, you can email our support at itzkaifazad@gmail.com from your registered Google account with the subject "Delete My Account", and we will permanently delete all associated cloud data on your behalf.
7. Children's Privacy
Noor does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. The application is educational, spiritual, completely safe, and suitable for all family members.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may periodically update our Privacy Policy to reflect app enhancements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
